About CompareTheStack
Most infrastructure comparison sites are affiliate content farms wearing a comparison-table costume — the "winner" is whoever pays the highest commission, and the table gets refreshed whenever that changes. CompareTheStack exists because that's a bad way to pick a server, a VPN, or a host.
The rule here is simple: every table is sorted by a real, disclosed metric — price-per-vCPU, price-per-GB, price outright — computed from real specs. Nothing gets a better position because it pays more. If that ever changes, it'll say so on this page, not quietly.
What's actually live today
Four categories are live and real: VPS, Cloud, VPN, and web hosting. Every price links to its source and carries a "last checked" date — see the Methodology page for exactly what "verified" means. More categories are coming; the underlying comparison tool is built to be category-agnostic, so adding one is a data problem, not a rebuild.
What's not live yet: automated price ingestion (today's prices are checked by hand against each provider's own pricing page, not scraped on a schedule) and benchmark data (rankings are price-per-spec, not yet measured real-world performance). Both are on the roadmap, not implied to already exist.
Who's behind it
CompareTheStack is built and operated by Dimva LTD, a UK-registered software company (no. 16068163). It's a bootstrapped, independent project — no venture funding, no provider ownership stakes, nothing that would make it awkward to rank a provider honestly. See how we make money for the actual revenue plan.
